Business Leaders Forum on Climate Change
The Business Leaders Forum on Climate Change (BLFCC) was held in Canberra on 28 March 2007. The forum was opened by the Governor General, Major General Michael Jeffery AC CVO MC (Retd). Sir Nicholas Stern, the author of the Stern Review on the Economics of Climate Change provided the keynote address and other prominent scientists presented at the Forum. Australian business leaders at the Forum have called for greater domestic action on climate change including ratifying a new global treaty on climate change and implementing an emissions trading scheme.
Speakers included Professor Warwick McKibbin and Professor Will Steffen of the Australian National University; Dr Steve Morton, CSIRO and Elliott Diringer, Director of International Strategies at the Pew Center on Global Climate Change based in Washington DC.
The business leaders at the Forum were from a range of industry sectors including electricity, resources, financial services, manufacturing and construction.
